                  Alcator C-MOD Weekly Highlights
                        November 2, 1994

Maintenance and repair operations on Alcator C-MOD are nearing completion.
Pump-down of the machine is scheduled for later today.

All in-vessel activities have been completed. New cabling was installed on all
ten divertor halo current shunts. The first wall and divertor thermocouple
arrays were connected and checked out. Cover plates over all internal cable
runs were installed. Divertor hardware torque was checked. Alignment and
calibration of all H-alpha arrays was completed. Alignment of the bolometer
arrays was completed. The vessel interior was cleaned out, and a thorough
final inspection, including production of a video record, was carried out.

All vertical port closures and gate valves have now been installed and torqued
up. Flanges on C- and G-horizontal ports, which are used for manned access to
the vessel, are being readied for installation. The turbo-pump station has
been operating since last week, and is ready for machine pump-down.

The igloo top was temporarily installed in order to carry out a calibration of
the neutron detector system. The calibration, employing an in-vessel source
was carried out over a 12 hour period on Sunday. The igloo top was then
removed to allow final connections to be made.

All of the vessel heaters have been checked out and are ready for operation.

New isolation amps from the magnetics rack to the Hybrid control computer have
been installed. The instrumentation for the new OH coax bus diagnostics is
complete and ready for installation.
