Subject: CGL-theory approach to the magnetic bottle problem
hey anybody out there
I'd like to know, if anybody tried to apply the CGL-theory (paper from
Chew, Goldberger and Low in the Proceedings of the Royal Society of
London, series A 236, 1956) to a plasma flow into a magnetic bottle,
like it occurs in the CUSP region of the earth. Or if anybody tried
another flow theory approach to the problem. the single approach is
quiet easy but it doesn't help much if you try to compare the flow
phanomenon to a gas flow through a tube or the solar wind for
instants.
I recently worked on the problem and got to some results. but it's not
satisfying.
it would be very kind if anybody who worked on it in the past could
post how far he got.
thnx in advance
harvey
