C-MOD Weekly Highlights
July
10, 1995
The scheduled maintenance period continued on Alcator C-MOD
this week.
A design modification for the gusset protection tiles
has been completed.
Quotes for the new tiles were received and the order
placed with the
selected vendor.
The LN2 sump has been opened
up, inspected, cleaned, and reclosed. The
LN2 cooling manifold has been
opened and inspection begun on the TF
cooling lines.
Inspection
of the buss connections is proceeding. No off-normal
indications have
been noted so far.
Seven out of ten halo current shunts have been
removed. The shunts are
being replaced with rogowski loops.
Thirty-seven
of the forty inner divertor modules have been removed from
the machine.
These are to be re-installed with improved hold-down hardwareto
prevent misalignment under disruption loading. Inner
wall tile modules
are also being removed so that tile holddowns can be
tightened and staked to prevent loosening; about half of the affected modules
are now out of
the machine.
Joe Snipes is in Garching for a
one-month visit to study H-modes at ASDEX
Upgrade. Yuichi Takase is
visiting Tore Supra in Cadarache, France. He
will continue on to Garching
to participate in an exchange with the
ASDEX-U RF Group.
Alcator
C-MOD staff and collaborators submitted forty-seven contributed
papers to
the upcoming APS Division of Plasma Physics Meeting in
Louisville, KY. In
addition, three invited papers on C-MOD results will
be presented by John
Goetz, Bob Granetz, and Joe Snipes.
