C-MOD Weekly Highlights
August
28, 1995
The scheduled upgrade and maintenance interval on Alcator
C-MOD continued last
week. Good progress was made toward readying the
machine for the next
operating period.
The gas handling
cabinet for the new Boronization system has arrived from the
vendor and is
being installed in the C-MOD cell.
All twenty inner divertor
modules are now ready for installation. Eleven out
of twenty of the old
upper gusset protection modules have been removed from
the machine and
fitted with the new tiles and are now being re-installed.
The West
half of the igloo cover is now back in place. Diagnostic systems
mounted
to this cover, including the upper TCI and Thomson scattering optics,
can
now be reinstalled.
The TCI CO2 laser is now reinstalled on its
optical table. The sixth Thomson
Scattering spectrometer has now been
calibrated and installed in the cell.
Martin Greenwald is visiting
the TCV Group in Lausanne, Switzerland, for
a collaboration on their
Confinement Studies Program. Earl Marmar is
participating in the ITER
Diagnostics Workshop and Expert Group Meeting in
Varenna, Italy.
Last week Rejean Boivin visited
Los Alamos to make arrangements for a
collaboration involving use at C-MOD
of the Time-of_Flight (TOF) Neutral
Spectrometer previously used on ZT-40
and CTX.
