Subject: RESONANT
TRANSFORMERS, PULSE FORMING NETWORKS, BLUMLEIN
Long time ago, I
studied much literature
in a conference proceedings that I cannot remember
name of, but it had
considerable discussion of marx generators, pulse
forming networks, and
blumlein was a buzzword that I did not quite
understand. Apparently what I
understand is that these are networks that
allow the voltage pulse to
compress as it travels, like a shockwave, so
that you do NOT NEED any switches
in the VOLTAGE AMPLIFYING PATH. That is
the key to reliability. The switches
used in that business are spark gaps
just like the tesla coil.
I wonder if anyone can illuminate this
pulse forming network concept, and
also point out a reference that is
especially lucid, or a review article.

Thanks a lot!
