I am undergraduate mechanical engineer
student at the University of
Minnesota.
I am working on my senior project.
The Project that my team is
working on, is an xz computer
controlled sample manipulator for Ultra High
Vacuum system. We are in need of feedback from potential
customers, who
may have a use for such a device in their line of
research.
we would greatly appreciate any help you could give us in
answering these
questions. The
customer research section is to be completed by January 21,
1997. We understand that some question will result
in proporietary
information and that generalized answers are required.
1)
Would you find a computer controlled manipulator useful? If so, why?
2)
What is your vacuum system primarly used for (general area of research)?
3)
What are your operating temperature?
4) Would you prefer a PC
controller or an electronic display?
5) What would you be the major
constraints that you would have for a sample
manipulator? e.g.
contamination, construction materials, range of motion,
load size, loading
chamber.
6)Have you seen, in industry of research labs, a computer
controlled
multi-axis sample manipulator for vacuum environments? If so,
do you know
who can contact for more information?
the UHV team
thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
