Alcator C-MOD Weekly
Highlights
May 5, 1997
Work on the new transmitters
continues. The Hi-yard work
has
been inspected and is ready for testing.
The new crowbar systems have
been hi-potted to 38kV with the
ignitrons installed and are also
ready for testing. Cabling for antenna and coax diagnostics
has
been installed between the power room and the cell.
Components are being ordered and
fabricated for supporting
the new EF4 reactors and bus work so that
installation can begin as
soon as the reactors arrive onsite. The CAMAC hardware and software for
the
power systems has been upgraded and has been tested.
The leak on the D-port horizontal flange
has been found and
fixed to a level acceptable for operation. A much smaller leak on C-port
horizontal
was also fixed. We are now preparing
for several days of baking
at 130C followed by electron cyclotron
discharge cleaning.
The DNB
test lab is being finished up with a new exhaust fan
installation and new
paint. Access holes for the DNB
transmission lines
have also been installed. The as-built drawing of the Faraday cage
has been completed
and we can now begin work on modifications needed for
its installation on
C-Mod. The tube socket for the Mod/Reg
tube has been
cleaned and the tube has been installed. Wiring of the tube has begun.
A
preliminary design of the high voltage transmission line is complete.
A new set of invessel survey images is
available on the
WEB at:
http://www.pfc.mit.edu/cgi/cmod_images?name=invessel/
with
prefixes of "survey". These
pictures will be very useful as
new diagnostics and invessel installations
are planned.
Bob Granetz and
Paul Bonoli were at the Sherwood meeting in
Madison, Wisconsin last
week. Bob Granetz gave an invited
review talk
,"Disruptions in Tokamaks", at the meeting.
