Second Announcement and Final Call for Papers
Joint Conference of
11th International Stellarator Conference
8th International Toki Conference
on Plasma Physics and Controlled Nuclear Fusion
"Helical System Research"
September 29 - October 3, 1997 Toki-city, Japan
"International Toki Conference on Plasma Physics and
Controlled Nuclear Fusion" has been held annually at
Toki-city. A selected topic on plasma physics and fusion
engineering is discussed each year. "International
Stellarator Conference" is held every two years and the next
conference is scheduled to be held in Japan. Both
conferences will be held as a joint conference in Toki-city
and its topic will be related to helical system research.
Joint Conference of 11th International Stellarator
Conference and 8th International Toki Conference will focus
on "Helical System Research". This conference covers
1) confinement-related experiments and relevant theories
L-mode, H-mode, high Ti mode, effect of radial electric field
2) new devices, advanced helical concepts, reactor studies
3) steady state operation
physics and technology related to particle and energy balance.
Program consists of invited papers, oral presentations and
DATE and PLACE:
The Conference will be held September 29 - October
3, 1997 at Ceratopia Toki Conference Hall in Toki-city which
is located near Nagoya. On September 29, only the

requested to submit a one-page abstract (A4 size) by June
30, 1997. The submitted paper will be selected for
acceptance by the Program Committee.
The registration fee will be 10,000 yen including
banquet, proceedings, and conference materials. The fee
should be paid in cash at the conference desk.
Authors are invited to submit brief abstracts on any
of the topics listed above. The deadline for receipt of
abstracts is June 30, 1997. Abstracts of accepted

List of Author(s)
The text should be typed in one-and-half space format on an
A4 size white paperwith a full 25 mm margin on all four
sides. Title, author(s), and institution(s) should be centered.
Please leave one line between title and author(s), and three
lines between institution(s) and text.
The selection of contributions for oral or poster
presentations will be made by the Paper Selection Committee
on the basis of the submitted abstracts. Authors may
indicate their preference, but the Selection Committee
reserves the right of assignment to specific sessions.
The presenting author will be informed of acceptance
in the middle of July and requested to prepare a full length
paper. Detailed instructions for the presentation of the
camera-ready text will be sent to authors. Completed papers
will be required by the Scientific Secretary at the
beginning of the Conference.
There will be several invited papers at the
Conference. The aim is to provide overviews of topical
subjects or in-depth presentations of outstanding new
results by acknowledged experts.
Accepted papers will be published as proceedings.
Each paper will be refereed prior to publication. Copies of
the proceedings will be distributed to each participant.
Please make your reservation using the attached form
by August 25, 1997. We have reserved western-style hotels
and some Japanese-style inns near Toki city for participants
