POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN ULTRAFAST PHOTONICS RESEARCH

    Position:

    Postdoctoral Research Fellow

    Ultrafast Photonics Laboratory
    University of Alberta
    Department of Electrical and
    Computer Engineering, CEB 450
    Edmonton, AB, Canada, T6G 2G7

    About the Ultrafast Photonics Laboratory:

The Ultrafast Photonics Laboratory at the University of Alberta
focuses on both pure and applied research in the study of ultrashort
physical phenomena.
Ongoing research at our laboratory includes ultrafast laser systems,
high-speed optoelectronics, and nonlinear optics. The sophisticated
optical facilities
available at the Ultrafast Photonics Laboratory offer a means of
studying both ultrashort events and high-power optical processes. The
equipment available for
use in the laboratory includes an 8 femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser, a
1 mJ 23 femtosecond multipass laser amplifier, an optical parametric
amplifier for broad
tunability, as well as various other ultrashort and high power laser
systems. In addition to optical facilities, a full-scale
microfabrication facility is available for
research and device processing needs. For more information on
photonics research at the Ultrafast Photonics Laboratory, visit our
website at
http://www.ee.ualberta.ca/~elezzabi, and for more information on the
available microfabrication facility visit the microfab website at
    http://www.ualberta.ca/~microfab.

    Scope of the Position:

The Ultrafast Photonics Laboratory at the University of Alberta is
rapidly expanding. We welcome new individuals from a wide variety of
backgrounds (electrical
    engineering, optical engineering, electromagnetics,
microelectronics, laser physics, plasma physics, etc.) to apply for this
postdoctoral fellowship position.
Candidates who are well motivated and interested in the study of
both ultrashort phenomena and high-speed optical devices should contact
Dr. Abdul Elezzabi or
Dr. Fred Vermeulen at the address above or visit the Ultrafast
Photonics Laboratory website to learn more about us. We look forward to
hearing from you!
