(
EURATOM/UKAEA Fusion Association )
An International Summer School intended for students near the start
of postgraduate courses.
No previous knowledge of plasma physics
is
assumed. Previous Schools have attracted students
from more than 50
different countries across all 5 continents.
Lecturers are also drawn
from
research laboratories and universities in the UK and abroad.
Culham is
the joint Euratom/UK centre for plasma physics and nuclear
fusion research; it is located close to
the city of Oxford, and
shares
a site with the world's largest magnetic fusion
experiment,
the Joint
European Torus (JET).
The School covers a broad
curriculum :-
* Plasma
particle dynamics * Waves in
plasmas * Kinetic theory
* MHD
* Transport * Computational
techniques * Chaos
* Fusion plasmas * Space plasmas * Laser plasmas
* Solar plasmas *
Astrophysical plasmas * Gravitational
plasmas
* Physical paradigms * Diagnostics * Industrial technologies
* Poster session *
Materials effects * Laboratory
visits
A copy of the course
textbook "Plasma Physics: An Introductory Course"
(Cambridge University Press, 1993) and
complete lecture notes are
given to each student.
