The subject title was
interesting, although the quoted article seemed to
be a stretch. Work that we are doing has to do with a
magnetoplasmoid
that is a device comprised of a compound plasma,
hyperconducting
currents with both plasma embedded fields and a vacuum
field region.
The hyperconducting current gives the plasmoid a
significantly enhanced
life time.
The central plasma is a toroidal plasma ring with spheromak
like
currents, and it is suspended within its poloidal vacuum field that
itself
is trapped within an outer plasma shell or Mantle. Formed in
atmospheric
air, it has the characteristics of ball lightning (see links
in the sig
below).
The connection to life or intelligence is that, if such a
simple
construct can have extended existence and exist within stars, we
might
speculate that quite complicated or "multi-deviced
(multi-celled)"
ensembles of magnetically active constructions might
be possible. If
so, is it
possible that some kind of accelerated complex behavior could
arise? Even though ball lightning can exist for
minutes in our
atmospheric media, it doesn't seem very likely that the
occasional
presence of simple magnetoplasmoids would lead to complex
behaviors. On
the other hand, the
immensity of star volumes with plasma and magnetic
media does provide
more ideal conditions that could serve as an
appropriate environment for
complex organized magnetoplasma entities to
appear (although likely not
to us). Since we are formulating a
direction for the Subject question, I suppose this might be better
viewed
by philosophy. Still, we do have a
source for construction and
perhaps in the future both theoretical and
experimental plasma science
will be more able to address this issue in
interesting ways.
