Subject: Maximal number density of a proton beam?

I suppose the pinch effect of parallel moving protons increases the

density somewhat and that it is possible to electrically and

magnetically push the parallel moving positively charged particles

closer together. But what has been done and what are the theoretical

limits to the achievable number density?
